Overview#

The Russelectric RTS-03 is a bypass-isolation automatic transfer switch designed for mission-critical facilities where maintenance cannot interrupt power. It's the premium ATS choice for hospitals, Tier III/IV data centers, airports, military installations, and any facility where the cost of a 15-minute power interruption exceeds the cost of the switch itself.

Now a Siemens business, Russelectric has manufactured transfer switches in Hingham, Massachusetts since 1955. Every unit is custom-engineered to the specific application — there is no "standard catalog" configuration.

What bypass-isolation provides#

Standard ATS (like the ASCO 7000) requires a power interruption to perform maintenance. Bypass-isolation solves this:

Normal operation: automatic transfer switch handles all transfers as usual
Maintenance mode: operator manually engages bypass handle, routing load through a separate bypass contactor
Isolation: the automatic mechanism is now electrically dead and can be safely serviced, tested, or replaced
Return to service: operator disengages bypass, returning to automatic operation

The load never sees an interruption during this entire process.
