Overview#
The Blue Star NG1250-01 is a 1,250-kilowatt natural-gas-only standby generator built on the PSI 53LHO high-output V16 platform. It is rated 1,250 kWe standby on natural gas at 60 Hz / 1800 RPM. LP fuel is not available on this model. Available in 480V, 600V, and 4160V three-phase configurations only. UL 2200, cUL, and CSA certifications are not listed on the spec sheet — confirm AHJ requirements before specifying.
The NG1250-01 is the highest-output single-unit standby generator in Blue Star's published gaseous product line.
The PSI 53LHO V16#
The PSI 53LHO is the high-output variant of the 53-liter V16 platform:
- 1,926 bHp (1,437 kWm) at 1800 RPM standby — 337 bHp more than the standard 53L (1,589 bHp)
- Same 52.3L displacement (3,192 cu in, 5.91-in bore × 7.28-in stroke) — output increase comes from high-output turbocharging and NG-optimized tuning
- Natural gas only — LP operation is not supported
- 601 GPM water pump, 45.2 gal oil, 65.4 gal system coolant — same service specifications as 53L
- 68,000 CFM ventilation requirement

All configurations carry 125°C standby temperature rise and ±0.5% voltage regulation.
Infrastructure requirements#
- Fuel pressure: 30 in. WC sustained under full standby load
- Ventilation: 68,000 CFM — the highest in Blue Star's gaseous lineup
- Coolant heat rejection: 3,535,200 BTU/hr; radiated: 1,518,840 BTU/hr
When to spec the NG1250-01#
- 1,050–1,250 kW standby loads on natural gas only (three-phase 480V, 600V, or 4160V)
- Sites where the NG1050-01's LP capability is not needed and maximum single-unit output on NG is required
- Applications where AHJ does not require UL 2200 listing (confirm before specifying)
Our service experience#
The PSI 53LHO is a specialized platform with limited field presence. Service at this output class requires coordinating directly with PSI for parts and technical support. At 16 cylinders and 1,926 bHp, scheduled maintenance intervals must be tracked carefully — higher-output engine tuning increases thermal stress on ignition components.
