Overview#

The Generac MD750 is a 750 kW modular diesel standby generator system powered by a Mitsubishi 33.9-liter turbocharged and aftercooled V12 engine. Part of Generac's Modular Power System (MPS) platform, the MD750 is factory-configured with integrated paralleling controls and the Power Zone Pro Sync controller for automatic load sharing and synchronization. The 33.9L Mitsubishi V12 provides conservative loading at the 750 kW rating, contributing to engine longevity in standby applications.

Two MD750 modules provide 1,500 kW of total capacity with full N+1 redundancy -- equivalent to the flagship SD1500 but with independent serviceability and simplified logistics. The modular architecture is particularly valuable for data center and healthcare campus environments where maintenance windows must not compromise backup power availability. The MD750 also supports mixed configurations with other MD Series units for flexible system design.

Our Service Experience#

The MD750's Mitsubishi 33.9L V12 is a robust engine platform in this power class. The V12 configuration requires methodical maintenance planning for injector service and valve adjustments across both cylinder banks. Multi-unit modular installations multiply the maintenance scope, so we recommend a structured service schedule that staggers major maintenance across modules. Paralleling controller calibration should be verified at each annual service to ensure balanced load sharing and proper synchronization response times.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the MD750 and the SD750?
The MD750 is a modular (factory-paralleled) system designed for scalable, redundant power architectures. The MD750 with the 33.9L Mitsubishi V12 engine comes factory-configured with integrated paralleling controls, enabling plug-and-play expansion with additional MD units. The SD750 is a single-unit standalone generator at the same power rating. The modular approach provides N+1 redundancy, easier installation logistics, and the ability to service one unit while another continues operating. Note that the SD750 is also available with the Perkins 18.1L inline-6 engine.
What is the fuel consumption of the MD750?
At standby rating, fuel consumption is approximately 69.8 gallons per hour at full load, 47.7 gph at 75% load, 32.4 gph at 50% load, and 18.3 gph at 25% load per module.
What voltages are available?
The MD750 is available in three-phase configurations at 277/480V and 346/600V, both at 60 Hz.
