Overview#
The Cummins C2250 D6 is a 2250 kW standby diesel generator set powered by the QSK60 -- a 60-liter, V-16 diesel engine with Modular Common Rail fuel injection (MCRS). Rated at 2813 kVA standby and 2563 kVA prime at 60 Hz, the C2250 D6 sits in the middle of the QSK60 mega-diesel lineup, offering a balance between output and thermal headroom.
The QSK60 platform is one of the most widely deployed mega-diesel engines in the standby power market. At 2250 kW, this genset provides a useful step between the 2000 kW and 2500 kW models, allowing engineers to right-size standby capacity without over-specifying. Full Cummins vertical integration covers engine, alternator, PowerCommand controls, and cooling system.
Medium-voltage output options (4160V, 12470V, 13800V) support utility-grade paralleling bus architectures. PowerCommand 2.3/3.3 controllers enable multi-genset arrays for facilities requiring 4-20+ MW of redundant standby capacity. Fuel consumption runs approximately 158 gallons per hour at full rated load.
