EPA Tier 2 Diesel Generators

EPA Tier 2 covered most engines manufactured 2003–2010 and remains the dominant tier in the installed base of pre-T4F industrial gensets. Tier 2 units have no DPF or SCR — operations are simpler, but emissions and PM output are higher. Many municipalities allow continued operation of legacy Tier 2 emergency-standby units indefinitely; some jurisdictions (notably parts of California) have begun retire-or-retrofit programs.
