Overview#
The MQ Power DCA-180 WhisperWatt is a 180 kVA (144 kW prime / 158 kW standby) portable diesel generator built around a John Deere 6068HFG05 inline-6 engine. It operates at 70 dB(A) at 23 feet in the standard WhisperWatt Super-Silent enclosure with 110% fluid containment.
The DCA-180 fills a meaningful gap in the MQ Power lineup. The jump from DCA-150 (120 kW) to DCA-300 (240 kW) leaves customers who need 130-170 kW either under-sizing or over-spending. The DCA-180 solves that.
John Deere 6.8L platform#
The 6068HFG05 is John Deere's workhorse industrial diesel — the same engine family found in excavators, loaders, and agricultural equipment worldwide. For service organizations, this means:
- Parts available through John Deere's extensive dealer network
- Technicians already trained on the platform
- Well-documented service procedures
319-gallon tank — extended runtime#
The integral 319-gallon fuel tank delivers approximately 55 hours at half load (5.8 GPH) and 31+ hours at full load (10.1 GPH). For multi-day construction deployments or extended emergency response, this reduces refueling logistics significantly compared to smaller-tank units.
