Overview#
The MQ Power DCA-150 WhisperWatt is a 150 kVA (120 kW prime / 132 kW standby) trailer-mounted portable diesel generator powered by a John Deere 6068HFG05 6.8L inline-6. It bridges the lineup between the Isuzu-engined DCA-125 (100 kW prime) and DCA-300 (240 kW prime), with a 319-gallon fuel tank and full John Deere dealer service network access.
The John Deere 6068 platform#
The DCA-150 uses the JD PowerTech 6068 — the 6.8L six-cylinder that also powers the smaller end of the DCA-300's sibling lineup:
- Tier 4 Final via EGR + DPF + SCR (requires both DPF regen management and DEF)
- John Deere dealer network — broad parts and field service availability
- Industrial pedigree across agricultural, construction, and generator applications
- Extended oil intervals — 500 hours vs the 250-hour Isuzu intervals on smaller units
DEF and DPF in tandem#
At 6.8L, the DCA-150 requires management of both aftertreatment systems:
- DEF (29.7-gallon tank) — larger than the Isuzu-engined models; plan DEF refills on a schedule proportional to fuel consumption
- DPF regeneration — automatic; don't interrupt active regen cycles
- DPF ash service — eventually required per OEM schedule; not a routine rental interval

Our service experience#
The DCA-150 is the sweet spot for commercial temporary power where 100 kW isn't quite enough and a DCA-300 would be overspecified. The John Deere 6068 is familiar to most diesel technicians and has excellent parts availability. The 319-gallon tank is a significant operational advantage for extended deployments — it reduces refueling frequency from daily to every 2-3 days even at sustained high load.
