Overview#
The Hipower HRIW-25 T4F is a 25 kVA (22 kW standby / 20 kW prime) compact trailer-mounted mobile diesel generator powered by an Isuzu diesel engine. It is the entry-level unit in Hipower's HRIW Isuzu-powered rental mobile series — designed for small construction tasks, temporary lighting, outdoor events, and rental fleet applications where a compact, easily towable unit is needed. EPA Tier 4 Final certified for California job site use.
Manufactured at Hipower's Olathe, Kansas facility, the HRIW-25 offers multi-voltage output — 120/240V single-phase, 208V three-phase, and 480V three-phase — making it versatile for a range of small-site power requirements. Isuzu's small diesel engines are among the most widely serviced in North America, with dealer and parts coverage throughout Northern California.
Engine Platform#
The HRIW-25 uses a small Isuzu diesel engine — a 3- or 4-cylinder liquid-cooled unit from Isuzu's industrial engine lineup. Isuzu has supplied diesel engines to the construction and generator industries for decades, with a service dealer network that covers every major metropolitan area in California and extends into rural markets. Parts — oil filters, fuel filters, air filters, and injectors — are widely stocked, keeping field service fast and downtime short for rental fleet operators.
At 1,800 RPM, the Isuzu engine runs at standard generator speed for clean 60 Hz output. The compact displacement suits the 22 kW output class, keeping fuel consumption low and making the unit well-suited to extended rental deployments where fuel cost matters.
Built for Rental Deployment#
The HRIW-25 is trailer-mobile from the factory, engineered as an integrated unit rather than a skid generator placed on a carrier trailer. Key rental-ready features:
- DOT-compliant trailer with lighting for highway towing — easily pulled by a light truck or van
- Multi-voltage output panel (120/240V single-phase, 208V and 480V three-phase) for flexible site hookup
- Lockable weatherproof enclosure protecting the Isuzu engine and alternator during outdoor storage and transport
- Integral fuel tank for all-day operation without refueling
- EPA Tier 4 Final certification for legal California job site use under CARB regulations
At 22 kW standby, this unit is appropriately sized for: small construction trailer power, residential renovation sites, outdoor event stages with modest lighting and audio loads, and emergency power for small commercial spaces.
Service & Maintenance#
Rental environments demand tighter service intervals than stationary installations due to variable fueling quality, storage conditions, and frequent transport:
- Oil and oil filter: Every 250 hours or 6 months, whichever comes first
- Fuel filter: Every 250 hours — important given portable site fueling
- Air filter: Every 500 hours or when the restriction indicator trips
- Major overhaul inspection: At 15,000 hours
Pre-deployment inspection checklist:
- Check Isuzu engine oil level and color
- Drain fuel filter water separator
- Test starting battery voltage under load
- Grease trailer coupler — inspect for wear
- Confirm marker lights and brake lights operational
- Lock enclosure latches and verify door seal condition
- Run at light load for 5 minutes before dispatch
