600 kW standby / 570 kW prime Tier 4 Final diesel generator with Volvo Penta TWD1683GE 16.1L engine. H2O-to-air aftercooled, SCR+DEF. Gillette's largest T4F unit.
The Gillette T4D-6000 is a 600-kilowatt standby / 570-kilowatt prime Tier 4 Final / Stage V diesel generator — the largest in the T4D series. Volvo's TWD1683GE 16.1L inline-6 with water-to-air aftercooling and SCR aftertreatment. Stamford HCI534F alternator, Basler DGC-2020 controller.
This is the only T4D model with different standby and prime ratings — all smaller T4D models are rated identically for both duty types. The 5% prime derating at 600 kW reflects the engine operating closer to its thermal ceiling.
The T4D-6000's TWD1683GE is the Tier 4 Final counterpart to the SPVD-6000's TWD1644GE (Tier II). Both are 16.1L inline-6 with water-to-air aftercooling. The Tier 4 Final version adds:
SCR catalyst and DEF injection for NOx reduction
Onboard emissions diagnostics and derate capability
EU Stage V dual certification
Improved fuel efficiency vs. the Tier II variant (37.2 vs 40.8 gal/hr at 600 kW)
The T4D-6000 is the most complex diesel service in the Gillette T4D lineup: 16.1L engine, water-to-air aftercooler, SCR catalyst, and DEF system. We approach each service as four subsystems: engine, cooling (dual circuits), fuel, and aftertreatment. Annual full-load testing with emissions verification is standard protocol.

Fuel consumption ≈ 28.70 GPH at 75% load. Estimate based on industry-typical 1800 RPM standby curves (≈0.07 GPH/kW at full load). Actual consumption varies by engine, ambient temperature, fuel quality, and tuning.
Service intervals
Manufacturer-recommended intervals for the Gillette T4D-6000 under standby duty. Field intervals may differ based on load profile, ambient conditions, and fuel quality.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the T4D-6000 the largest Tier 4 Final model Gillette offers?
Yes — at 600 kW standby / 570 kW prime, the T4D-6000 is Gillette's largest Tier 4 Final diesel generator. The Volvo TWD1683GE 16.1L is the largest Tier 4 Final engine in the T4D lineup. Above 600 kW, Gillette's options are the SPVD/SPMI Tier II/III standby models (for emergency duty only).
Why do the standby and prime ratings differ on the T4D-6000?
The T4D-6000 is the only T4D model where standby (600 kW / 932 bhp) and prime (570 kW / 850 bhp) ratings differ. All other T4D models have identical standby/prime ratings. At 600 kW, the engine operates closer to its thermal ceiling, requiring a 5% derating for unlimited continuous hours.
How does the T4D-6000 compare to the Tier III SPVD-6000?
Both are 600 kW on Volvo 16.1L I6 engines. The T4D-6000 (TWD1683GE, Tier 4 Final) has SCR aftertreatment and DEF requirement but better fuel efficiency. The SPVD-6000 (TWD1644GE, Tier II) is simpler with no aftertreatment. Choose based on emissions compliance requirements.
DEF consumption at 600 kW?
Approximately 6.2% of diesel. At 37.2 gal/hr diesel, expect ~2.3 gal/hr DEF at full load.
350 kW Tier 4 Final / Stage 5 diesel generator with Volvo Penta TAD1385VE 12.8L engine. Water-to-air aftercooled, SCR+DEF, Basler DGC-2020. Made in USA.
600 kW standby / 570 kW prime Tier 4 Final diesel generator from Blue Star Power Systems. Volvo Penta TWD1683GE 16.12L inline-six with SCR/DPF/DOC, DSE DCP7310 controller, three-phase 208-600V.
