Overview#
The Echo DGK70F is a 70 kVA portable diesel generator with patented SimulPhase technology for simultaneous single-phase and three-phase output without external transformers. Built in Japan by Yamabiko Corporation (formerly Shindaiwa), this unit is powered by an Isuzu 4JJ1X four-cylinder diesel engine delivering 56 kW prime power. The DGK70F offers triple voltage output — 120/240V, 208V, and 480V — with a 105-gallon fuel tank and 7.4-gallon DEF tank. The sound-attenuated enclosure produces just 61 dBA at 7 meters. Tier 4 Final and CARB compliant.
Isuzu 4JJ1X Engine Platform#
The DGK70F steps up to the Isuzu 4JJ1X engine — a 2.999-liter inline four-cylinder diesel that represents the next displacement tier in Echo's lineup. The 4JJ1X platform is widely deployed across Isuzu commercial vehicles and industrial applications, ensuring excellent parts availability and broad service technician familiarity. The DEF-based selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system, paired with S.E.T. (Smart Emissions Technology), manages Tier 4 Final compliance through active DPF regeneration under light loads — preventing the soot buildup that plagues competitors' aftertreatment systems during low-demand operation. The 7.4-gallon DEF tank supports extended operation between DEF refills.
Our Service Experience#
As authorized service providers in Northern California, we maintain Echo DGK Series generators across the Bay Area and Central Valley. The DGK70F is a strong choice for mid-size construction projects and event power, where its 61 dBA sound level allows operation near occupied spaces without noise complaints. At 3,898 lbs dry weight and 102 x 37.5 x 69 inches, it is towable on a standard trailer. The 105-gallon fuel tank provides genuine full-day runtime at 24+ hours full load. The Isuzu 4JJ1X engine has a well-established service parts network, and the 250-hour oil change interval keeps routine PM straightforward. Echo's 3-year warranty — the longest in the portable class — reflects Yamabiko's confidence in the Shindaiwa engineering heritage behind every unit.
