Overview#
The Detroit Diesel Series 60 14.0L is a legacy diesel generator powered by the largest displacement variant of the Series 60 four-stroke inline-six platform. With 14.0 liters of displacement, this engine produces approximately 500 kW in standby generator applications, placing it at the top of the Series 60 power range. The 14.0L variant was developed to meet demand for higher output while retaining the Series 60's electronic fuel injection and emissions compliance advantages.
Manufactured from the early 1990s until 2011, the Series 60 14.0L is no longer in production. It met Tier 1 and Tier 2 emissions standards and was the most powerful engine Detroit Diesel offered in the Series 60 family for generator duty. Its successor platform is the MTU Series 2000/4000. The 14.0L variant maintains strong aftermarket parts availability and service support across North America. OnPoint provides comprehensive maintenance, overhaul, and control system services for facilities that continue to operate Series 60 14.0L generator sets.
