Remote Monitoring Platform

OmniMetrix

Enterprise-grade redundancy for mission-critical and regulated sites.

Manufacturer

OmniMetrix, LLC

Founded

1998

Headquarters

Buford, Georgia

Ownership

Subsidiary of Acorn Energy, Inc. (NASDAQ: ACFN)

OmniMetrix has built wireless remote monitoring and control for critical infrastructure since 1998, and operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the publicly-traded Acorn Energy. It runs two divisions — Power Generation monitoring and Cathodic Protection monitoring for buried gas and pipeline lines.

That pipeline heritage matters: the aggressive surge protection, atmospheric monitoring, and physical isolation engineered for high-risk pipeline rectifiers carry straight into the generator telemetry hardware. Public-company backing makes OmniMetrix a natural fit for large enterprise, municipal, healthcare, and utility accounts that need a vendor with staying power.

How it works

Comprehensive controller polling with disaster-grade redundancy

OmniMetrix reads deep diagnostics directly from the generator controller over Modbus, and can fall back to Iridium satellite when local cellular and internet are down — so alarms and remote-start commands still get through during a regional disaster.

Hardware

TrueGuard-PRO

Rugged industrial monitor — 8 digital alarm inputs, 2 analog inputs, 2 output relays; Modbus RTU over RS-485/RS-232, scanning up to 128 alarm and 128 analog registers from the controller.

OMNIPRO

Next-gen commercial platform in a compact footprint — modular color-coded harness and magnetic mounts for sub-hour installs; scans up to 1,000 alarm points and 1,000 analog parameters, with USB-C configuration and over-the-air firmware updates.

OMNI

Base residential/legacy monitor tracking 50 alarms and 50 parameters.

Connectivity

  • LTE cellular — data carried under a single annual flat-rate fee (no separate carrier contract)
  • LAN / Ethernet
  • Iridium satellite (low-earth-orbit, global) — bypasses damaged local cell towers during hurricanes, earthquakes, and regional grid failures

Portal

OmniView

Data-archiving and analytics portal with automated compliance formatting and the T2 automated trouble-ticket system, which escalates critical alarms until they're actively resolved.

Where it's strongest

  • Iridium satellite fallback for disaster-grade communication survivability
  • Very deep Modbus register capacity (up to 1,000 points on OMNIPRO)
  • Automated compliance-oriented reporting and escalating trouble tickets
  • Public-company backing for enterprise and utility procurement

Best fit

Hospitals, surgical centers, Tier IV data centers, utilities, and municipal systems that need maximum communication redundancy and compliance-grade reporting.

When to consider another platform

If your fleet is mostly older or non-digital panels, an ATS-based monitor (Gen-Tracker) may integrate more easily than deep controller polling.

Not sure it's the right fit?

We help you pick the platform that matches your equipment — not the other way around.

OnPoint Generators installs, integrates, and supports every platform below, plus our own managed Pulse service. Compare them side by side or talk to us about your fleet.
