Overview#
The Triton Power TP-S880-T4F is an 880 kW diesel standby generator featuring a twin-engine configuration with two Scania DC16 084A turbocharged V-8 engines, each displacing 16.4 L. Rated at 880 kW / 1100 kVA standby and 800 kW / 1000 kVA prime, this is the largest Scania-powered unit in Triton's lineup. Both engines operate at 1800 RPM and are paired with Leroy Somer alternators.
The twin-pack architecture doubles the output of the single-engine TP-S440-T4F while maintaining EPA Tier 4 Final emissions compliance. Available in three-phase configurations at 120/208V and 277/480V, the unit provides built-in redundancy for critical power applications. Each engine can operate independently if the other requires maintenance, maintaining partial power availability.
Our service experience#
The TP-S880-T4F shares its Scania DC16 084A engines with the single-engine TP-S440-T4F, so shops already servicing the 440 kW model have full parts and procedure familiarity. The V-8 configuration of the DC16 provides excellent power density for its displacement class. Twin-pack installations at this power level are increasingly common in data center and healthcare applications where both high capacity and redundancy are required.
