Overview#
The Triton Power TP-P500-T2-UL is a 500 kW diesel standby generator built on the Perkins 2506D-E15TAG3 six-cylinder turbocharged and aftercooled engine (15.2 L displacement, 568 kW / 762 HP) with a Leroy Somer TAL0473 alternator. It meets EPA Tier 2 emissions standards for emergency stationary applications and carries UL2200 listing. At this power class, the unit serves medium-to-large commercial and institutional facilities.
The unit features a Deep Sea Electronics DSE7310 controller with full engine and alternator protection. Fuel consumption is rated at 32 GPH at full load, dropping to 20.3 GPH at half load. The Tier 2 emissions rating means no aftertreatment systems are required for emergency standby use (less than 100 hours per year), keeping the package simpler and maintenance costs lower.
Our service experience#
The Perkins 2506D engine platform is proven across the generator industry, used by multiple OEMs and supported by a global parts network. At 500 kW, the TP-P500-T2-UL competes with Caterpillar C15, Cummins C500D6, and Kohler 500REOZMD — delivering comparable power output at Triton's value pricing. For projects where the specification allows "or equal" substitutions and acquisition cost is a primary driver, this unit offers strong value. Wind load rating up to 200 mph makes it suitable for hurricane-prone regions.
