Overview#
The Hipower HRFW-400 T4F is the largest unit in the HRFW FPT-powered mobile rental series — a 400 kVA (352 kW standby / 320 kW prime) trailer-mounted diesel generator designed for large construction projects, industrial shutdowns, and high-demand temporary power applications. The FPT Industrial diesel engine provides proven heavy-duty performance backed by an established service and parts network throughout Northern California.
Manufactured at Hipower's Olathe, Kansas facility, the HRFW-400 delivers 352 kW of standby power in a road-mobile package that can be positioned, connected, and producing power the same day it arrives on site. EPA Tier 4 Final certified for California deployment. Output is three-phase 277/480V at 60 Hz — matching standard US commercial and industrial electrical systems.
OnPoint Generators offers HRFW-400 units for rental and purchase, with full pre-deployment inspection and ongoing service support throughout the Bay Area and surrounding Northern California markets.
Engine Platform#
The HRFW-400 is powered by an FPT Industrial diesel engine from the Cursor series — a high-output, liquid-cooled inline configuration that delivers 352 kW of standby power while meeting EPA Tier 4 Final emissions. FPT (IVECO) engines are used in heavy construction equipment, agricultural machinery, and commercial trucks worldwide, which translates directly to parts availability and technician familiarity at authorized dealers throughout Northern California, including locations in the Bay Area, Sacramento, Fresno, and Stockton.
Running at 1,800 RPM, the engine pairs efficiently with the Stamford alternator to deliver stable 60 Hz output across variable load swings — a common requirement on active construction sites where compressors, lighting, and power tools cycle on and off continuously.
Built for Rental Deployment#
At 352 kW, the HRFW-400 is sized for the most demanding construction and industrial rental applications — large enough to feed a complete temporary distribution system for a major commercial project, while still trailer-mobile for repositioning between phases of a multi-site project. Key rental-ready features:
- DOT-compliant trailer with surge brakes and marker lighting for legal highway towing
- Quick-connect power panels for fast site hookup across multiple load points
- Lockable weatherproof enclosure protecting engine, alternator, and controls during outdoor storage and transport
- Integral fuel tank supporting extended runtime between refueling stops
- EPA Tier 4 Final compliance for unrestricted California job site use under CARB rules
This size class is commonly deployed for: large commercial building renovations with full power offline, industrial plant shutdowns requiring maintained utility power, outdoor concerts and festival events with multiple stages, and utility contractor operations during substation or distribution line maintenance.
Service & Maintenance#
Rental-optimized service intervals account for the variable fueling, storage, and transport conditions of active fleet operation:
- Oil and oil filter: Every 250 hours or 6 months, whichever comes first
- Fuel filter: Every 250 hours — critical given variable fuel quality from portable site fueling
- Air filter: Every 500 hours or when the restriction indicator trips
- Major overhaul inspection: At 15,000 hours
Pre-deployment inspection checklist (OnPoint standard before every dispatch):
- Verify engine oil level and condition
- Inspect and drain fuel filter water separator
- Load-test starting battery
- Grease and inspect trailer coupler and safety chains
- Confirm roadway lighting operational
- Test all enclosure door latches
- Check coolant level and inhibitor concentration
- Run at 25% load for 10 minutes, verify no alarms
Our Service Experience#
OnPoint Generators deploys HRFW-400 units for Bay Area construction contractors, semiconductor facility shutdowns, and large outdoor events requiring 300+ kW of portable power. The FPT engine platform's broad dealer coverage means parts are typically available same-day or next-day throughout Northern California, keeping rentals running without extended downtime. Our technicians service both the FPT engine and Stamford alternator end in-house, supporting fast turnaround between rental cycles.
