Overview#

The Generac SD030T is a 30-kilowatt Tier 4 Final industrial diesel standby generator. Like its sibling the SD025T, the "T" designation indicates EPA Tier 4 Final certification with diesel particulate filter aftertreatment. This positions the SD030T for installations where non-emergency operating hours or local air quality regulations demand Tier 4 Final compliance.

Built on the Perkins 2.2-liter turbocharged inline-four platform, the SD030T pushes this engine closer to its rated capacity compared to the SD025T. The DPF system manages particulate emissions to meet Tier 4 Final standards, while the Digital H controller provides NFPA 110 Level I/II programmable operation, Modbus communications, and predictive maintenance monitoring.

Our Service Experience#

The SD030T shares the same DPF maintenance profile as the SD025T — regular exercise under load is essential to prevent soot buildup. At 30 kW, the Perkins 2.2L is working harder than in the 20-25 kW models, which actually benefits DPF health by producing higher exhaust temperatures during exercise. Monitor exhaust backpressure at every service visit and schedule forced regeneration if the unit runs fewer than 4 hours per month. The cooling system runs warmer at this power level — verify coolant condition and heater function semi-annually.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the SD030T different from the SD035?
The SD030T is EPA Tier 4 Final certified with DPF aftertreatment, allowing operation in both emergency and non-emergency applications. The SD035 is only certified for stationary emergency use. Despite the lower kW rating, the SD030T costs more than the SD035 due to the Tier 4 Final aftertreatment system. Choose the SD030T when regulations require Tier 4 Final compliance.
What is the fuel consumption of the Generac SD030T?
The SD030T consumes approximately 2.6 gallons per hour at full load, 2.0 gph at 75% load, and 1.4 gph at 50% load. DPF regeneration cycles add modest additional fuel consumption periodically.
What voltages are available for the SD030T?
The SD030T is available in single-phase 120/240V and three-phase configurations: 120/208V, 120/240V, 277/480V, and 346/600V at 60 Hz.
