The Generac SD030T is a 30-kilowatt Tier 4 Final industrial diesel standby generator. Like its sibling the SD025T, the "T" designation indicates EPA Tier 4 Final certification with diesel particulate filter aftertreatment. This positions the SD030T for installations where non-emergency operating hours or local air quality regulations demand Tier 4 Final compliance.
Built on the Perkins 2.2-liter turbocharged inline-four platform, the SD030T pushes this engine closer to its rated capacity compared to the SD025T. The DPF system manages particulate emissions to meet Tier 4 Final standards, while the Digital H controller provides NFPA 110 Level I/II programmable operation, Modbus communications, and predictive maintenance monitoring.
Our Service Experience#
The SD030T shares the same DPF maintenance profile as the SD025T — regular exercise under load is essential to prevent soot buildup. At 30 kW, the Perkins 2.2L is working harder than in the 20-25 kW models, which actually benefits DPF health by producing higher exhaust temperatures during exercise. Monitor exhaust backpressure at every service visit and schedule forced regeneration if the unit runs fewer than 4 hours per month. The cooling system runs warmer at this power level — verify coolant condition and heater function semi-annually.
