Blue Star NG650-01
650 kW standby / 550 kW prime · Natural Gas / LPG · Liquid-cooled
650 kW natural gas / LP standby generator from Blue Star Power Systems. PSI 32L V12 turbocharged-aftercooled, DSE DCP7310 controller, three-phase 208-600V.
The Blue Star NG650-01 is a 650-kilowatt natural gas / LP standby generator — the top standby output in the PSI 32L V12 product family. It is rated 650 kWe standby on natural gas and 400 kWe on LP at 60 Hz / 1800 RPM. Three-phase only (208V, 240V, 480V, 600V). The NG650-01 shares the 210×96×103 in OPU footprint with all other 32L-based models (NG500-01, NG600-01).
The NG650-01 runs the PSI 32L V12 at its highest standby rating in the Blue Star catalog. Thermal rejection is proportionally the highest in the 32L family:
Coolant heat rejection: 2,044,440 BTU/hr (vs. 1,606,080 for NG500-01, 1,859,460 for NG600-01)
Heat radiated: 767,220 BTU/hr
Exhaust volume: 4,354 CFM at 1,183°F
Above the NG650-01, the lineup transitions to the PSI 40L V12 (NG800-01), which has a larger engine block, higher volumetric cooling requirements, and 4160V availability.
The NG650-01 is the ceiling of the 32L platform family. At this output level, thermal loads on ignition components are at their maximum for the 32L — spark plug and ignition coil intervals should be tracked carefully. Parts availability is consistent with the NG500-01 and NG600-01 service requirements from the same engine family.

Estimate runtime on this tank
Fuel demand at 75% load
6,825,000 BTU/hr≈ 6825.0 cf/min @ 1,000 BTU/cf
On utility natural gas the runtime is generally unlimited provided the supply line and meter can deliver this BTU/hr at the engine's required inlet pressure (typically 5–14" WC residential, up to 5 psi commercial). Confirm against the OEM's published fuel-pressure spec.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the standby rating of the NG650-01?
The Blue Star NG650-01 is rated 650 kWe standby on natural gas and 400 kWe standby on LP at 60 Hz / 1800 RPM. Deration thresholds revert to the standard values: 1.5% per 5°F above 77°F inlet air temperature and 6% per 1,000 ft above 1,200 ft altitude.
What engine is in the NG650-01?
The PSI 32L — a 31.8-liter V12 turbocharged-aftercooled spark-ignition engine rated 966 bHp (721 kWm) at 1800 RPM standby. The NG650-01 is the highest-output standby unit on the PSI 32L platform; the next step up (NG800-01) uses the larger PSI 40L V12.
How does the NG650-01 LP rating compare?
The NG650-01 delivers 400 kWe on LP standby — 62% of the 650 kWe NG rating. This LP-to-NG ratio is lower than the NG500-01 or NG600-01 LP ratios, reflecting the 32L engine operating closer to its ceiling on NG tuning. For high LP output requirements at this size class, verify LP derating with site conditions.
Is the NG650-01 available in single-phase?
No. The NG650-01 is three-phase only in 208V, 240V, 480V, and 600V configurations.
