Blue Star NG500-01P
500 kW standby / 450 kW prime · Natural Gas / LPG · Liquid-cooled
450 kW prime-rated natural gas / LP generator from Blue Star Power Systems. PSI 32L V12 turbocharged-aftercooled, DSE DCP7310 controller, three-phase 208-600V.
The Blue Star NG500-01P is the prime-rated variant of the NG500-01, delivering 450 kWe continuously on natural gas (350 kWe on LP). It uses the identical PSI 32L V12 platform and physical enclosure as the standby NG500-01. Three-phase only — no single-phase option. The NG500-01P carries a 1-year / 1,500-hour prime warranty.
Both share the same OPU footprint (210×96×103 in, 15,500 lbs) and DSE DCP7310 controller.
Note on deration: The NG500-01P prime variant has better deration tolerance than the standby NG500-01 (102°F / 5,000 ft vs. 97°F / 4,200 ft). This is an unusual reversal of the typical pattern where standby units outperform prime variants on deration.
Service procedures are identical to the NG500-01 standby. Prime-duty use accumulates hours faster — budget accordingly for 12-cylinder spark plug and ignition coil service. Confirm oil and coolant change intervals against PSI's prime-duty maintenance schedule.

Estimate runtime on this tank
Fuel demand at 75% load
5,250,000 BTU/hr≈ 5250.0 cf/min @ 1,000 BTU/cf
On utility natural gas the runtime is generally unlimited provided the supply line and meter can deliver this BTU/hr at the engine's required inlet pressure (typically 5–14" WC residential, up to 5 psi commercial). Confirm against the OEM's published fuel-pressure spec.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the prime rating of the NG500-01P?
The Blue Star NG500-01P is rated 450 kWe prime on natural gas and 350 kWe prime on LP at 60 Hz / 1800 RPM, backed by a 1-year / 1,500-hour prime warranty. The paired standby unit is the NG500-01 at 500 kWe.
What are the deration thresholds for the NG500-01P?
The NG500-01P has exceptionally extended deration thresholds: 3% per 10°F above 102°F inlet air temperature and 7% per 1,000 ft above 5,000 ft altitude — the most tolerant deration spec in the Blue Star gaseous lineup. This reflects the PSI 32L engine's thermal headroom even under continuous prime-duty loading.
How does fuel consumption compare between NG500-01 and NG500-01P?
At 100% load: the NG500-01 standby consumes 5,878 ft³/hr NG (500 kW); the NG500-01P prime consumes 5,444 ft³/hr NG (450 kW). The lower consumption at the prime rating reflects the reduced output level, not a more efficient engine — the same 32L V12 is used in both.
Is single-phase output available on the NG500-01P?
No. The NG500-01P is three-phase only, in 208V, 240V, 480V, and 600V configurations — identical to the standby NG500-01.
