Blue Star NG500-01
500 kW standby / 450 kW prime · Natural Gas / LPG · Liquid-cooled
500 kW natural gas / LP standby generator from Blue Star Power Systems. PSI 32L V12 turbocharged-aftercooled, DSE DCP7310 controller, three-phase 208-600V.
The Blue Star NG500-01 is a 500-kilowatt natural gas / LP standby generator built on the PSI 32-liter V12 platform. It is rated 500 kWe standby on natural gas and 400 kWe on LP at 60 Hz / 1800 RPM. The NG500-01 introduces a larger engine family — the PSI 32L — with a correspondingly larger 210×96×103 in footprint and extended deration thresholds compared to the 21.9L-based models below 500 kW.
The PSI 32L V12 is a larger and less common platform than the 21.9L in most service territories. The oil system is significantly larger (32.2 gal), and the cooling system volume (54.4 gal system coolant) means more fluid to manage at maintenance intervals. The DSE DCP7310 controller is identical across the NG500 family, keeping service procedures consistent with other Blue Star gaseous units.

Adjust load percent and tank size to estimate runtime. Pre-filled with this model's spec where available.
Estimate runtime on this tank
Fuel demand at 75% load
5,250,000 BTU/hr≈ 5250.0 cf/min @ 1,000 BTU/cf
On utility natural gas the runtime is generally unlimited provided the supply line and meter can deliver this BTU/hr at the engine's required inlet pressure (typically 5–14" WC residential, up to 5 psi commercial). Confirm against the OEM's published fuel-pressure spec.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the standby rating of the NG500-01?
The Blue Star NG500-01 is rated 500 kWe standby on natural gas and 400 kWe standby on LP at 60 Hz / 1800 RPM. The LP standby rating of 400 kWe is 80% of the NG rating — one of the better LP-to-NG ratios in the Blue Star large-gaseous lineup. Deration thresholds are extended: 3% per 10°F above 97°F inlet air temperature and 6% per 1,000 ft above 4,200 ft altitude.
What engine is in the NG500-01?
The PSI 32L — a 31.8-liter (1,941 cu in) V12 turbocharged-aftercooled spark-ignition engine producing 966 bHp (721 kWm) at 1800 RPM standby. The 32L is a step-up platform from the 21.9L V12 used in the NG400/425/450 series: larger bore and stroke (5.91×5.91 in vs. 5.04×5.59 in), larger radiator (210×96 in OPU vs. 156×86 in), and a significantly larger oil system (32.2 gal vs. 10.6 gal).
How does the NG500-01 deration compare to the NG450-01?
The NG500-01 (PSI 32L) uses extended deration thresholds of 97°F inlet air and 4,200 ft altitude — substantially more tolerant than the NG450-01's standard 77°F / 1,200 ft. This makes the NG500-01 a better choice for hot climates and high-altitude sites. The NG500-01P prime variant extends further to 102°F / 5,000 ft.
Is the NG500-01 available in single-phase?
No. The NG500-01 is three-phase only in 208V, 240V, 480V, and 600V configurations.
