Overview#
The Winco DR12I4 is a 12,500W (12.5 kW) standby / 11,250W (11.25 kW) prime diesel generator powered by an Isuzu 3CE1 1.6-liter three-cylinder naturally aspirated diesel engine with a Stamford alternator. It is the smallest unit in Winco's DR diesel standby series, delivering single-phase 120/240V output for residential, small commercial, and agricultural backup power. EPA Tier IV Final certified. 100% US-made in Le Center, Minnesota since 1927.
The DR series is Winco's enclosed diesel standby line — designed for outdoor installation with weather-protective enclosure and sub-base fuel tank, ready for permanent standby duty. The DR12I4 is built for rural areas where diesel is the practical fuel and natural gas service is not available.
The American Manufacturing Advantage#
Winco has assembled generators in Le Center, Minnesota since 1927. Every DR12I4 is built at that US facility with US labor. The Isuzu 3CE1 engine and Stamford alternator are globally non-proprietary components — both serviceable by any qualified diesel technician without OEM-specific tools or dealer relationships.
For rural municipalities, small farm operations, and remote commercial facilities with Buy American requirements, the DR12I4 provides 12.5 kW of diesel standby in a compact enclosed package. The Isuzu 3CE1 engine is supported through Isuzu's industrial engine distribution network — parts available independent of Winco's own footprint.
Service & Maintenance#
Oil changes every 250 hours or annually. Fuel and air filter changes at 500 hours. The annual service interval is critical for standby units where diesel sits in storage — fuel degradation and water accumulation require annual filter changes regardless of engine hours logged.
The Isuzu 3CE1 three-cylinder engine uses standard diesel engine consumables. The Stamford alternator requires periodic brush, bearing, and insulation maintenance. Transfer switch contacts should be exercised weekly during standby. Major overhaul at 20,000 hours.
