Overview#
The Triton Power TP-JD400-T3-UL is a 400 kW (500 kVA) diesel standby generator powered by the John Deere 6135HFG82 turbocharged six-cylinder engine with 13.5 L displacement. As the higher-output sibling of the 350 kW TP-JD350-T3-UL, this unit shares the same proven 6135 platform with calibration tuned for 400 kW standby output. The Tier 3 emissions configuration and UL2200 listing make it well-suited for stationary emergency standby installations.
Paired with a Leroy Somer alternator, the unit delivers three-phase power at 1800 RPM in 120/208V and 277/480V configurations. The 500 kVA standby capacity provides substantial reserve for motor starting and block loading in large commercial buildings, healthcare facilities, and industrial plants.
Our service experience#
The 400 kW class is a competitive segment where the TP-JD400-T3-UL goes head-to-head with Cummins C400 D6 and Kohler 400REOZJB units. The Triton's combination of the John Deere 6135 engine and UL2200 listing at a lower acquisition cost makes it an attractive value proposition. The Tier 3 configuration eliminates DPF/SCR maintenance entirely, which is particularly beneficial for emergency standby units that accumulate limited runtime and can struggle with aftertreatment regeneration cycles.
