The Olympian GEP88 is an 88 kW diesel generator powered by the Perkins 1104A-44TAG2 — a 4.4-liter turbocharged-aftercooled inline-4 engine. The aftercooler is the key differentiator from the GEP65's turbocharged-only engine, providing cooler, denser intake air for higher power output from the same 4.4-liter displacement. The GEP88 delivers three-phase 277/480V power at 60 Hz for commercial standby applications.
The 88 kW rating positions the GEP88 in the mid-range commercial standby market, serving medium-size office buildings, multi-tenant retail, light manufacturing facilities, and institutional buildings. This power class covers buildings with moderate HVAC loads, elevators, and essential circuits without stepping up to the larger 6-cylinder engines required for 100+ kW applications.
The Perkins 1104A platform's turbocharged-aftercooled configuration has been extensively deployed across generator, construction, and industrial equipment applications worldwide.
