Overview#
The Airman SDG25SV-8E1 is a 25 kVA V-Pump variant that integrates a Mitsubishi FR-F800 variable frequency drive for motor starting and dewatering applications. Based on the SDG25S platform with an Isuzu 4LE2T engine, the V-Pump variant enables direct pump motor control without external VFD equipment. Standard 110% fluid containment and EPA Tier 4 Final compliance. Built by Hokuetsu Industries in Japan. At 2,227 lbs operating weight with a 52-gallon fuel tank, the SDG25SV is compact enough for tight job sites while delivering the integrated VFD capability that would otherwise require a separate piece of equipment.
Integrated VFD Technology#
The defining feature of the SDG25SV is its factory-integrated Mitsubishi FR-F800 variable frequency drive. In conventional dewatering setups, contractors rent a portable generator and a separate VFD, then cable them together on site. The V-Pump variant eliminates that complexity — the VFD is factory-matched to the Isuzu 4LE2T generator output, providing clean, controlled power directly to pump motors. This enables precise speed control for submersible and trash pumps, soft-starting capability that reduces mechanical stress on pump impellers, and the ability to match pump output to actual dewatering demand rather than running at full speed continuously. The result is lower fuel consumption, reduced wear on pumping equipment, and a simpler jobsite footprint.
Our Service Experience#
The SDG25SV fills a specific niche in our rental fleet — dewatering applications where contractors would otherwise need to source and connect a separate VFD. We deploy it on foundation excavation projects across the Bay Area, particularly in the low-lying areas near the San Francisco Bay where high water tables make continuous dewatering essential during below-grade construction. The integrated Mitsubishi drive has been reliable in our fleet, and the 20 kW prime rating provides enough headroom for most single-pump dewatering setups.
At 2,227 lbs, the SDG25SV is light enough for pickup truck transport to smaller sites. The 52-gallon tank keeps refueling manageable for multi-day pump runs. Maintenance follows the same 250-hour oil change schedule as the standard SDG25S platform — the Isuzu 4LE2T is a proven small diesel with excellent parts availability. The primary service consideration unique to the V-Pump variant is periodic inspection of the VFD cooling system and drive connections, which we include in our standard service protocol.
