Overview#
The Triton Power TP-P80-T3-UL is an 80 kW diesel standby generator built on the Perkins 1104D-E44TAG1 turbocharged and aftercooled four-cylinder engine (4.4 L displacement) with a Leroy Somer TAL044 alternator. It meets EPA Tier 3 emissions for emergency stationary applications and carries UL2200 listing. Available in single-phase (80 kW at 120/240V) and three-phase (80 kW at 277/480V) configurations.
The unit features a Deep Sea Electronics DSE7310 controller with comprehensive engine and alternator monitoring. Fuel consumption is 23.7 L/hr (6.26 GPH) at full load, dropping to 13.5 L/hr (3.57 GPH) at half load.
Our service experience#
The Perkins 1104D engine family covers the 50-100 kW range and is one of the most widely deployed commercial generator engines globally. The TAG1 variant in this unit shares its block with the TAG2 found in Triton's 100 kW model, so many consumables and service procedures are interchangeable. At 80 kW, this unit competes with the Kohler 80REOZJF and Cummins C80D6R but at Triton's value pricing — an important consideration for retail, education, and government projects where acquisition cost matters alongside lifecycle performance.
