Series Overview#
The Cummins RS Series is the residential standby generator line carrying forward the Onan legacy brand. Spanning 13 to 30 kW, these air-cooled generators run on natural gas or liquid propane and are designed for whole-home backup power. The RS Series competes directly with Generac Guardian and Kohler residential standby units in the home backup market.
RS Series generators feature Cummins-built engines purpose-designed for standby duty, integrated automatic transfer switches, and Cummins PowerCommand home standby controllers with remote monitoring capability. The air-cooled design simplifies installation and maintenance compared to liquid-cooled commercial units, keeping total cost of ownership accessible for residential applications.
The RS Series is available in multiple enclosure styles with sound-attenuated housings designed to meet residential noise ordinances. Units are ETL listed to UL 2200 and CSA certified, with NFPA 37 compliance for residential installations. The dual-fuel capability (natural gas and LP) provides fuel flexibility depending on the home's existing utility connections.
