OmniMetrix TrueGuard PRO

Monitoring Systems

Enterprise-grade remote generator monitoring with Modbus integration, 128 alarm inputs, satellite backup, and NFPA 110 auto-reporting. The industry standard for commercial fleets.

Overview#

OmniMetrix is the pioneer and market leader in wireless remote generator monitoring — they introduced the first wireless generator monitor in 1998 and have maintained leadership for 25+ years. The TrueGuard PRO is their commercial/industrial flagship: full Modbus integration with deep controller diagnostics, satellite backup for zero-coverage sites, and automatic NFPA 110 compliance reporting.

For generator service companies managing commercial fleets, OmniMetrix provides the visibility that Gen-Tracker can't match: 128 alarm inputs, controller-level diagnostics, and enterprise-scale fleet management from a single OmniView dashboard.

Two connection modes#

Hardwire mode — discrete inputs/outputs connected directly to generator alarm contacts and analog sensors. Works with any generator regardless of controller. 8 alarm inputs + 2 analog standard.

Modbus mode — RS232 or RS485 serial connection to the generator controller. Provides full register access: 128 alarms, 128 analog values, deep diagnostics, voltages, currents, power, frequency, runtime hours, and fault codes. Requires a Modbus-capable controller.

When to choose OmniMetrix#

Our service experience#

We use OmniMetrix on our commercial fleet accounts where NFPA 110 compliance reporting is mandatory (hospitals, senior care) and where the facility manager wants deep visibility into generator health. The Modbus integration with Kohler APM and Cummins PowerCommand controllers gives us the same diagnostic depth remotely that we'd get standing at the controller — reducing unnecessary site visits and enabling faster troubleshooting. For residential and simple commercial sites, Gen-Tracker is more cost-effective; for anything with compliance requirements or multi-generator monitoring needs, OmniMetrix is our standard recommendation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes OmniMetrix different from Gen-Tracker or DSE WebNet?
OmniMetrix is the enterprise-grade option: 128 alarm + 128 analog inputs via Modbus, satellite backup for no-cell sites, automatic NFPA 110 compliance reporting, and proven Fortune 500 fleet management (Amazon, AT&T, Coca-Cola). Gen-Tracker is simpler/cheaper for small fleets. DSE WebNet only works with DSE controllers. OmniMetrix works with everything.
Does OmniMetrix work with any generator brand?
Yes — universal compatibility. Two connection modes: Hardwire (discrete alarm/analog inputs to any generator) or Modbus (RS232/RS485 deep integration with Cummins, Kohler, Cat, Generac, DSE, and any Modbus-capable controller). No brand lock-in.
What is the satellite backup option?
For sites with no cellular coverage (remote pump stations, mountain infrastructure), OmniMetrix offers Iridium satellite communication. Data transmits via satellite to the OmniView cloud platform with the same alerting and reporting as cellular. Additional hardware cost applies.
Does OmniMetrix do NFPA 110 compliance reporting?
Yes — automatic NFPA 110 compliance reports are generated by the OmniView platform. This documents exercise history, runtime, fault events, and transfer tests — critical for hospitals and facilities that must demonstrate generator readiness for Joint Commission or AHJ inspections.
What's the pricing model?
One-time hardware purchase + annual monitoring subscription (includes cellular data, customer support, OmniView access, OTA firmware updates). No per-alert fees. Pricing is quote-based through dealers or direct sales. Demand Response program (via CPower partnership) can offset costs by earning revenue during grid peak events.
