Overview#
The ComAp InteliGen NT is an advanced paralleling generator controller capable of synchronizing up to 32 generators regardless of brand or size. It's the go-to controller for multi-set installations, rental fleet standardization, and temporary power systems where generators from different manufacturers must work together.
ComAp (Czech Republic) is the world's second-largest generator controller manufacturer after Deep Sea Electronics, with particular strength in paralleling, rental, and CHP applications.
Key capabilities#
- Synchronization: automatic sync of multiple generators to a common bus
- Load sharing: droop-based sharing that maintains balance even on communication loss
- Peak shaving: utility-parallel mode for demand charge reduction
- Mains decoupling: automatic island detection and separation
- Black start: sequenced startup from dead bus
- CHP mode: combined heat and power optimization
When to choose ComAp over DSE#
- Rental fleet: hot-swappable color display, rapid reconfiguration via GenConfig software
- Multi-brand paralleling: proven in mixed-manufacturer installations
- CHP / utility-parallel: stronger peak-shaving and export-limiting features
- Temporary installations: faster setup and tear-down for construction/events
Our service experience#
We encounter ComAp controllers primarily on rental fleet generators and temporary power installations. The GenConfig software is essential for programming — unlike DSE's simpler front-panel setup, ComAp requires a laptop and software for most configuration changes. We maintain GenConfig licenses and current firmware for field service. The controllers are reliable; most service calls relate to CAN bus wiring issues (termination resistors, cable damage) rather than controller hardware.
