Overview#
The SENS SuperTorque 8R is a paradigm shift in generator engine starting. Instead of specifying separate batteries, chargers, cables, disconnects, and redundancy selectors from multiple vendors, the 8R integrates everything into a single pre-wired, pre-tested, rackable package.
The system uses nickel-zinc (NiZn) battery technology — not lead-acid — with embedded MicroGenius 2 chargers optimized for the NiZn chemistry. The result is up to 90% space reduction at the engine, 6+ hours saved on installation, and a 10-year warranty backing the entire system.

Our service experience#
We're seeing increasing adoption of the SuperTorque 8R in new construction and major generator replacements, particularly at healthcare facilities where space in the generator room is premium. The NiZn batteries eliminate the acid-spill risk that code officials worry about in occupied buildings. The single-part-number specification also simplifies procurement for general contractors. The 10-year warranty means we're not replacing starting batteries every 3-5 years on these installations, which changes the maintenance cost equation significantly.
