Overview#
The Doosan G70 delivers 56 kW of prime power (70 kVA) from a Doosan D34 3.4-liter engine — the largest of Doosan's proprietary diesel engines used in the G-Series lineup. At 64 dBA, Doosan positions this as the quietest mid-range Tier 4 Final package on the market.
The redesigned enclosure features dual-frequency switching (50/60 Hz) as standard, and the Marelli alternator provides stable voltage regulation with strong motor starting capability. DOC and SCR aftertreatment (with 5.1-gallon DEF tank) meet Tier 4 Final emissions. Also sold as the Bobcat PG70.
CoolBox enclosure and D34 turbocharged engine#
The G70 is the largest model in the Doosan lineup powered by a Doosan proprietary engine — the D34, a 3.4-liter turbocharged inline-4. Above this power level, Doosan transitions to Cummins engines starting with the G100. The D34's turbocharger delivers the additional airflow needed for 56 kW output while maintaining the same 64 dBA noise level as the smaller naturally aspirated D24-powered models.
Unlike the smaller G25/G40/G50 which use DOC-only aftertreatment, the G70's D34 adds SCR (selective catalytic reduction) with a 5.1-gallon DEF tank. There is still no DPF, which means no regeneration cycles and no risk of DPF-related derates — a meaningful maintenance advantage over competitors that require DPF-equipped engines at this power level.
Our service experience#
OnPoint services Doosan G70 units across Northern California. The D34 turbocharged engine is the most powerful of Doosan's proprietary diesels, and the turbocharger adds one maintenance item compared to the naturally aspirated D18/D24 models. DEF consumption is modest — the 5.1-gallon tank lasts well beyond a typical fuel fill cycle. Oil changes remain at 250-hour intervals. The Marelli alternator is robust and parts are available through electrical supply distributors. For fleet operators stepping up from the G50, the G70 moves to a larger chassis footprint but maintains the same CoolBox enclosure serviceability.
