Overview#
The Doosan G190 delivers 145 kW of prime power (181 kVA) from a Cummins QSB7-G8 6.7-liter inline-six diesel. The G190 is the first model in the Doosan lineup to feature the DualBox enclosure design, which separates the powertrain from the cooling system for improved thermal management and noise reduction.
At 69 dBA and 11,377 lbs, the G190 offers Cummins engine serviceability at a price point typically 15-30% below comparable units. The 368-gallon integrated fuel tank provides 31.7 hours of runtime at full load — one of the longest in its class.
DualBox enclosure design#
The G190 introduces Doosan's DualBox enclosure — a split-compartment design that physically separates the engine/alternator powertrain from the radiator and cooling system. This separation serves two purposes: improved thermal management (hot engine air doesn't recirculate through the cooling compartment) and better noise attenuation (each compartment is independently sound-treated).
The DualBox design is used on all Doosan models from the G190 up through the G570. For service technicians, the split compartment means easier access to both the engine and the cooling system without working around each other. The 224" x 83.2" footprint accommodates the Cummins QSB7 6.7-liter inline-six with room for service access on all sides.
Our service experience#
OnPoint services Cummins QSB7-powered generators extensively in Northern California — it is one of the most common engine platforms in the portable power industry. The G190's DualBox enclosure provides noticeably better service access than single-compartment designs at this power level. Cummins parts availability through Bay Area distributors is excellent. For operators running Cummins-powered units across multiple brands, the QSB7 service procedures are identical regardless of the generator manufacturer. The 500-hour oil change interval and strong Cummins dealer network keep total cost of ownership competitive.
